"Dorothy Vallens Apartment is a collaborative wall project between me and Monica Sanchez (Tissa Mawartyassari).
She approached me and and asked if I wanted to do a collab with her, and being a fan of work of course I said yes.
Initially I didn’t want to layer the track she sent me, because I loved it just the way it was. She told me she had done it so airy and sparse so there would be room for me to add whatever I thought fitting. So I added some light crackles to it.
She added a third layer to it and the result was fantastic. I loved it. I tried a fourth layer to the track and that changed the sound completely.
This release is the third and fourth version of the same track. But they sound very different from each other. There are similarities of course, but no more than what could be considered to be an artists “sound”.
The first track is the fourth version, the second track is the third.
The name Dorothy Vallens Apartment came from our mutual love for Blue Velvet, by David Lynch (as well as both being huge fans of David Lynch work in general).
We’re very proud of the results of this collab and Polwach did an amazing job (as always) with the packaging.
We hope you enjoy it."
