"The Tissa Mawartyassari project has always been associated with ghosts, specters, violent deaths, revenge from the afterlife. On these particular walls, I wanted to recreate what it would sound like if a spirit were to just simply pass through you. I believe I’ve experienced it about twice in my life. It sounded like an underlying humming along with the feeling of paralysis. This happens to some people as “night terrors”, but with me, it’s always been between sleep and wake. And I don’t particularly have visions. Just a feeling, with this insane sound in my head. I don’t think I quite captured the sound just as it happened, but I think I came close. I chose the color red, because red is what I associate with passion, anger & motivation. It’s a color that’s always recurring in my themes and titles. I don’t think there would be spirits or ghosts if these feelings weren’t associated with it. I hope you enjoy these walls as much as I enjoyed making them."
